For local residents, a beautiful day often includes a walk along the canal's towpath, fishing from the banks, or a serene moment of gazing into the waters of the canal while resting on the bank side benches.

In an effort to preserve the history and beauty of the canal in the 4½ miles it passes through the Borough of Walnutport, the Walnutport Canal Association was formed for this mission.
